Premium: meaning in health insurance
เบี้ยประกัน
The premium is the price you pay for your insurance policy, usually yearly; for health insurance it depends mostly on age.
What sets the premium
- Age: the main factor; premiums rise every year, sharply after 50 to 60
- Annual limit and sub-limits
- Outpatient cover and other options
- Cover area: Thailand only, Asia or worldwide
- Deductible and co-payment
- Health declaration: a loading can apply for some conditions
Payment
Premiums are usually paid yearly; some insurers accept half-yearly or monthly payment with a surcharge. On Waisiam, plan pages show the yearly premium by age from the insurer rate tables.
General definition: the exact rules are those of your policy wording.
